HISTORY

The Mayar Rescue Foundation (Mares Foundation) which is a non- governmental organization aim at promoting and protecting the rights of children and persons with disabilities through advocacy and transformative activities and improving the lives of the less privileged in Cameroon, was created by Atarimba Belinda Mayar, a young lady with disability from the South West Region of Cameroon. During the ongoing crisis affecting the South West and North West Regions of the country, she faced similar and additional challenges,neglect, exclusion because of the crisis just like many other persons with disabilities and that gave her the drive to do something for her community.
Seeing these challenges, neglect and little or no humanitarian assistance given to children, persons with Disabilities and elderly, she started her Advocacy for Inclusion for psycho-social support and humanitarian assistance from individuals to humanitarian organizations and even to government agencies. As time went by, little attention was given to this vulnerable category of people, motivating her in 2020 to come up the initiative of creating the Mayar Rescue Foundation (Mares Foundation) to serve as a platform where the voices of persons with Disabilities can be heard.
Even though, it has not been really easy, coupled with everything that comes with the crisis and knowing that the foundation was created during when there's alot of controversy and conflicts, her partners and people of goodwill have supported her in remaining on track inorder to continue to accomplish the organization's goals.
